ghosts, cats, and candy corns... OH MY

Tonight the activity was a little bit hard for Tylee, but only because it involved scissors. She doesn't quite have them figured out yet so I did the cutting and let her do the gluing. Tonight we made a super cute banner. It was really easy, I just used solid colored hardstock paper and cut cut cut. Here is some pictures of the project.

Here is the finished project. It is now hanging above the television. Adds a little spunk to the living room. :)

Next we did our treat "Witch hats" These were very fun and little miss loved this snack/treat (its not healthy so beware.) All ya need it a cookie, a hug and maybe a tad bit of frosting.

Last but not least.... Story time once again. Tonight we read "Black Cat Creeping." It was super fun. It's just a simple story of some trick or treaters that a little black cat sorta follows. Little missy liked pointing out the kitty on each page. not to mention the pumpkin. ghosts. moon. etc.

October 2nd:

Today was fun!!!! We cleaned up the house and watched Blue's Clues and Dora while I worked a little bit. (LOVE MY JOB!!!! i can do it in the midst of cleaning, watching TV and playing with my little miss - plus get paid VERY well for what I do. BONUS) We then got on to the spookiness of the season. Today for dinner I just made a simple soup Corn and Potato Chowder. I didn't take any pictures but feel free to visit HERE get the recipe and see a picture. It was very tasty and good for our colds and Brandon's cough...

So to continue onto the sppookkss. We started "You've Been Boo'ed" I'm sure all of you have had a version of this come into your neighborhood at some point of your life. I decided to start the party. I don't know our neighbors too well so I thought this would be a good way to sort of get to to know them a little bit better. I made our new famous SALTED RICE KRISPY TREATS. so Jenn if you are reading this here is your recipe :) Here is the picture of our ghost and our treats... We had fun making them and they are SO SO SO SO SOS SOSOSOOSSO delicious. I recommend making them and eating them... Promise they will be made again :)
Then for our craft we made a [pumpkin patch.] We were lucky enough to have Aunt Brooke stop by and help us. You don't need much for this project. Just some popsicle sticks, glue gun, and a few colors of paint. We had a lot of fun painting these. You could really dress them up however you want. Here are a few photos of the event.

I think that they turned out pretty cute... As you can see you can really do whatever you want to embellish them and give them character.

Next we had our **STORY TIME** Tonight we read "Pumpkin Trouble" It was a cute book about a duck making a jack-o-lantern and falling inside and then his friends thought he was the [PuMPkIn MOnstER!!] It is such a cute story. Lil miss loved it!!! :) She had a really fun time.. and kept asking "Again, Again!!!"

Let the Festivities Begin

It is now October. so hopefully you all know. HALLOWEEEEEEN is on the way!!!!! I decided I wanted to be a 'fun' 'creative' 'unboring' mom this year for the holiday. So here we go...

1st day: [october 1]: Today I started planning the 31 days of October so we didn't get started until later in the day so things weren't super creative but it was a good start. We actually had a lot of fun. We went to the grocery store, craft store, and library. First things first. Dinner.
I made a super simple and VERY yummy Fettucini Alfredo. It was very deelish!!! Also not much required in the way of ingredients: flour, milk, butter, parmesan cheese, garlic salt, salt, pepper, and noodles.

Onto the snack..... TEETH!!!
These were very popular with the little miss. She loved the snack itself as well as the fact that it was so 'funny' she was eating teeth!

Next we colored Harriet the witch. We found these at Hobby Lobby for like $1.99 and 40% off. Little m really enjoyed coloring her craft while eating her snack

[Harriet]

Then BEDTIME my favorite time of day. Last but not least we celebrated the beginning of the spook month with Halloween pjs and a halloween story. We visited the library today and picked out some Halloween books. Tonight we read "When a Monster is Born," Tylee loved it (for the most part - she still gets distracted). The book is so cute about a monster being born and it always has two options and if it does one then 'that's that' but if it does the other then something else happens. She loved that the monsters were in a baby buggy. She thought it was SO funny.

Hot Dog and S'more Stuff

After church today (September 30, 2012), we took a trip up Logan canyon with Brandon's family and some of their friends for a little hot dog roastin'. We had so much fun with Tylee. Here are some pictures of the evening. I'm glad we decided to go before it starts getting too chilly.

A FuN day out

Willow Park ZOO

Today Shannon and I took the kids to the zoo here in Logan and they had so much fun seeing all the animals and running around together. After we were all done as we were walking out of the zoo there was an old man with a straggly looking beard and worn and dirty clothes sitting on the bench and Tylee yells out "mommy look at that" and points to the guy. I felt so bad and embarrassed. Dang kids ha. Anyway then we took them over to the park and let them play for a little bit too. They had so much fun until they got tired and thirsty and it was time to go home. Brody loved the birds and was so fun watching him try to make the same noises. Tylee and Kasen just couldn't help themselves, they just ran off to see more and more things. It was a great day. Both Tylee and Kasen were sad to leave each other at the end of the day.
